Payments M&A is hot, but deals could face antitrust scrutiny

Shearman & Sterling partner Mark Chorazak recently spoke with Payments Dive for a story about the recent trends toward consolidation and M&A in the FinTech industry, particularly in the payments space. The article included coverage of the FinTech Foundry report, The Changing Fintech Landscape: A Snapshot of M&A Themes and Trends, which was produced by Shearman & Sterling's FinTech Foundry in collaboration with S&P Global Market Intelligence and Rise, created by Barclays.

“The payments sector is one of the brightest parts of the larger fintech ecosystem,” Mark Chorazak, a Shearman & Sterling partner in the global Financial Institutions Advisory & Financial Regulatory practice said in an email. “Digital commerce and electronic payments, including digital wallet adoption, are almost certain to have an upward trajectory in the next several years.”
